Hi there, first time here so hope all goes well.

Ok here is a little pc question.

a while ago i got another pc, it was second hand so i had no control of the spec. Anyway, this pc has 2 hard drives. these are listed as:

programs ( c: )
local disc ( D: )

whan i start the pc and press control panel those are the 2 hard drives i see, the 'D' drive has the largest ammount of gigabytes, (is that called memory)

D drive is around 100 gig
C drive is around 50 gig

anyway, lets go back a little, when i turn on my pc i get a option of 2 windows XP to start, basically i just start the first one which is the 'D' drive and the largest ammount of gigabytes. all my programs are installed on this drive and this is the drive i always use.

I have 'booted' up the other drive before but there is only windows xp installed but no graphics card drivers, or any thing else, no modem ets, so i do not use it.

Ok, when i got rid of my last pc i took all the inside out and saved the hard drive this hard drive is 120 gig. So what i have done is put this hard drive into my pc tonight and rebooted it, when the pc started i got an installation message telling me that my pc had found new hardware. Once my pc loaded i clicked 'my computer' and it was shown as:

programs ( c: )
local disc( D: )
local disc ( F: )

so now this new hard drive is 'F' drive.

Now this is the question i would like a answer to.

'D' drive is windows XP, along with 'C' drive which has no progams installed and no grahpics cards etc.

I have a Windows Vista DVD and what i was thinking could i install this to the 'F' drive and still have XP on 'D' drive.

what im hoping for is if i do install Vista, when i start my pc will it say 'C' 'D' drive windows XP and 'F' drive windows Vista, so i can choose which OS i want to use.

If this is the case i would like to install Vista andu se 2 Operating systems on 2 diferent drives.

Complicated stuff, but im hoping someone can advise who is familier with more than one HD on their pc.

cheers

First of all I would reccomend that you format C (The one with windows and missing drivers and nothing else on it) and use that as an extra storage and/or backup drive.

As to having 2 OS's and then choosing which one you want to run, im not actually sure if that will work or not because I have never tried it, so your best bet would be to give it a go and see what happens :)

all im worried about is will i lose all my files etc on my XP drives, although when i install vista im selecting 'F' drive so im hoping that would not be the case.

At the end of the day what im trying to do is install vista and maybe move my files from the other drives, after of course i like vista better than xp
