Dual Channel Memory Problems. Help Please!

I am currently runnig P4 HT 3.0GHZ on a Machspeed 865PEDAP motherboard.
The MB has 2 memory slots, DIMM1 and DIMM2. I bought pair of dual channel kit brand new retail 2x512. When I plug them both in, computer doesn't boot. But when I plug in DIMM1 only, it works. When I plug in DIMM2, it doesn't work. My gut feeling tells me that my DIMM2 slot is messed up but it could be a simple mistake. I've tried to run dual channel with other matching sticks of memory prior to the dual channel kit i just bought, and it had the same outcome. Can someone help? Thankyou

In diimm slot #2 alone would ,most likely not work since most boards simply require the #1 slot populated when using a single dimm by itself. Have you tried both dimms to see if one has a fault? When you add the older memory you could be seeing a mismatch which would stall the system. Mixing single sided with dual sided dimms will fail every time plus memory timings or type of memory like mixing value with perfomance dimms.

Machspeed has their own Award flash utility and mix of bios updates thrown together on one page at http://www.machspeed.com/biosupd/ If you don't have a floppy drive and an opening for one you can use a 5 1/4" drive bay adapter for sliding one into an empty spot for this. They go for about $2- retail.
