Dual channel ram

I just upgraded to 1 gig (2x512) when i first started my computer with both in the indicated spots it wouldnt turn on so i took 1 out and it started, what do i have to do to enable the other to work?
 
it could be that your mobo only supports 512 mb of ram but that still might not explain why it doesn't start up. plus you'd need a really old mother board
 
Which "one" did you leave in there? The new or old? Have you tried the other? Is the RAM identical?

I don't feel like searching around too much tonight, but it's just a 754, right? So it wouldn't have duel channel support.
 
i fixed i lol for some reason at first when i started it up but now its working fine. Thanks for the help guys
 
I supposed its a normal case? Because mo bo needs to read and reconfig itself for the increase of ram at the first time of power up, so then u need to press reset to start up normally.
