Dual Core Games

Can anybody give a good list of PC games that utilize dual core processors currently? I think a list will be useful for people looking at getting a dual core CPU. Thanks.
 
Probably the only games out that have the focus primarily on dual cored cpus are the newest with some to be released. Others that have seen problems have more to do with XP's initial problems where performance drops were realized. The MS registry fix for multiple processor boards was then applied to boards running dual cored cpus to correct this. What makes it easlier for running the more resource intensive games is the multitasking support offered by a dual core over a single core model. Having dual channel enabled on the main board also helps with having the Windows background services forced onto the secondary memory channel. That frees things up for the more intense gaming sessions.
 
Right now multithreaded games dont do a whole lot. For example, before the release of the dual-core patch for CoD2, I got about 65-75fps in the first minute or so of gameplay, and with the dual-core patch, I got around 69-79fps.
 
Do multithreaded games take the advantage of hyper-threading technology in pentium4 ?

I mean if I use the dual core patch for COD2, will I gain some fps with pentium4 HT ?

It was originally designed for HT in the P4's, before dual-cores were common. So yes, it will work with HT and should show an improvement in the game.

Patch 1.1 was the dual-core/HT patch, and anything newer also has that patch.
