dual core mobo

i have just changed from a 1.9 to a new 2.8ghz mobo. the pc is now running painfully slow, it is not a virus, what i would like to know, with the dual core processor, do you have to have ram in both core slots for the mobo to run at peak effeciency. if not why is my mobo slower then the 1.9 mobo.

What do you mean RAM in both the cores slots? Unless it's a dual-socket motherboard, theres only one set of RAM.
 
I think with some motheborards they dont use the CPU's maximum clock speeds - sllightly less - (at the cheaper end of the market)
 
what i mean by both ram slots is; the mobo has four ram slots, i assume two for one core and two for the other core, two are blue and two are black, this will give me a max of 4gb of ram, at the moment im using 512 ddr400. and as my question said do i need ram in both of them to make the thing run faster, like i said i dont have a virus issue, its just very slow at loading all my programs, which the slower mobo handled much better.
what is the purpose of dual core anyway?

Well, if you could post your system specs it may help. As for the RAM slots, the reason there is two groups for Dual Channel RAM. But I guess your complaining about your cpu running slower than it should, well by upgrading the mobo, perhaps it doesn't support the fsb of your processor.
 
the specs are;
2 40gb hdd
3.2 processor which came with the mobo
80gb ext hdd
nvidia graphics card
sound blaster sound card
512 ddr400 ram
all these specs were the same on the slower mobo, but as i said this suposidly faster mobo is slower. do you think there is an issue with putting RAM in both slots, or is that errelevant?
all i know it is much slower, maybe with this mobo 512 is just not good enought?
