Dual core or single core

.. i no it sounds like a stupid quesion but i just want some oppions or some answers .. ok well my friends thinking of getting either a amd 4000 or a 3200 x2
what will the performace different be i no the 3200 will be better for muilty tasking but how will they compeate in programs and everyday usage(oh this is not for gaming)(hes a linux user)

is there even a 3200 x2? if you are going dual core go with intel conroe.

amd 4000 will do fine for single core.

you should ask him does he have programs that utilizes dual cores.
 
nah he doesnt(have any programs that utlize duel core) but he doenst want a intel cpu not a intel fan.. hard 2 explain 2 him intels are good lol.
 
show him some benchmarks of the Core 2 Duo, if he's computer smart at all he'd understand :) Anyways, if he multitasks then the dual core would be good. If he just surfs the net, listens to music, then it really doesn't matter.
