Clockspeed means very little when comparing different architectures - a 3GHz Athlon is about as fast as ~2.5GHz Phenom. The 9500 (and 9550), however, are low-end (and low-clocked) models, and the pretty huge clockspeed advantage of a 6000+ makes it a winner in single-threaded apps.I suppose, but you even said yourself that duals are clocked at a higher speed. I rarely multitask.
The 6000+ ain't a bad CPU, but if you really don't want to spend the extra cash, I would certainly recommend a Phenom X3. At least here in Australia lowest-end Phenoms cost less than highest-end Athlons (6000+). Regardless, as long as you don't play any massively demanding game, you really can't go wrong with any of those.
