Dual core

Yes its 2Ghz per core, but no, it's not 4Ghz total.

*trying to put it simple here*

With a single core running at 2Ghz, if you have a program using up 100% of your CPU, it's using up around 2Ghz of the total processing speed.

With a dual core running at 2Ghz, you can have two programs using 100% of each core, and each program uses 2Ghz. But if you only have one program running, it will only use up one core still, so it will still run at 2Ghz.

Not exactly.
It depends on the game. Newer games are being coded to take advantage of multiple core processors.
However, most games will only use one core, while other system processes can use the other core.

Yeah anything mid-2006 and earlier is def going to run on one core. Dual core still helps you in the tiny way that the other core will take care of background tasks.
