well I'm planning to buy this hdd and I was wondering
how I would go along and set this up I currently have a IDE 30gb garbage Hdd that came with my comp but I have all my videos and music and I dont to lose it. Can someone give me some sort of idea of how i might set this second HDD up without losing any info and still have them both running without any complications. BTW i only have two ide slots on my MOBO one is for my cd drives with a dual ide cable and the second is for the hdd and that also has a dual cable. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822140155

yes, of course. It involves changing jumper settings. These are the little pins on the back of the drive, there should be about 8 of them in two rows of 4. You will need to change the jumper configuration to set the drive as a "slave" drive. The new one you should set as "Master", connect both drives and set to boot from CD in the BIOS, pop your windows CD into the CD drive and start the computer up, your system should start to boot from the CD, see the windows setup, start setup and install on the MASTE hard drive, leaving your slave drive as it was before, if you are worried you might overwrite it somehow then simply take the power cable out of the old hard drive until your finished.

Doing all of this should install windows onto the new hard drive and leave your old hard drive (documents!!) alone.... Connect the old drive back up at the end obviously.

no no no..tisk tisk, no talking of pirating here. To do it legally, you'll eaither have to buy the disc or buy a cd key, but you can't download.
