Dual Layer DVDs

Hi..my DVD drive says I can run dual layer dvds, so a while ago i bought them and tried them out and it said that i could only use 4 GB of the dvd when their was 8.5 GB on the DVD. How do you make it so you can use the entire dual layer dvd or is it not possible? Dual layer DVDs have puzzled me, so I hope someone can answer my question.

What is the model of this DVD drive? Is it possible that your drive can only read DL, but not burn DL? Just my 2 cents. It's also possible that the media isn't compatible. I've had the best luck iwth Verbatum disks.

I'm not a hundred percent sure if this matters but is are the DL dvds your got +R or -R? because maybe only +R type DL dvds will work

-'s wouldn't show up at all if it's a + drive

you probably need to upgrade the firmware, the discs probably aren't registered in the firmware you're using

dual layer discs are bunk, tho

you'd honestly be better off just using two 4.7GB discs

I agree with that above statement. unless it is a 2.5 + hour movie. dual layel disks aren't worth it.

What brand disks are you using? I've had the best luck with Verbatim disks.
