Dual Monitors In Different Rooms

So here's the deal. The place that I work at wants to be able to share information with another department in the building. They want to be able to input information into a form and have it show up on a single monitor down on the first floor in another room. This would eliminate the employees from having to either walk up there or call them. They could just look at the monitor instead.

What's the best way you think of going about that? Maybe hooking it up as a dual monitor setup and getting a long-ass video cable to connect to the second monitor downstairs? What other ways could they do it?
 
or just buy a cheap EEE box, put it in a place where they cant get to it, and use a website that is secured and update it for them with relevant info, to me thats the simpler design, tho may cost 200 bucks more for the hardware + a simple website design.
 
Dragging a long monitor might be difficult as the signal will degrade with distance. How long of a distance are you looking to do?
 
The simplest thing to do may be to setup a cheap machine downstairs and connect to the 'master' with VNC or a similar program.
