Given the choice between a 45nm Core2 or a 65nm Core2 Quad (about the same price), which is better (performance and investment-wise)?

I see 4GB of ram is increasing in popularity, is there really a point?

Also, what kind of power needs would I have with the following main hardware:

8800GT, 2GB DDR2 1066, one of the above processors, one HDD

I have a 550W now just looking to see if I should up it if I get those above upgrades. THANKS

4Gb ram is just for e-peen, do it only if you think you have a small one.. lol.

C2D should be fine I mean, there isn't many times anyones using the extra power provided by a quad.

I have no idea for your PSU but I am fairly sure you wont need to upgrade it.

Tuffie.

Ok, well, my Antec 550W seems to be running fine, it is almost two years old. I am just concerned with the 12V amperage - there are two rails of 18A each. Is that a good amount of 12V with components like those? I know it used to be alot two years ago.

Intel -

Yeah that Antec PSU of yours with 36amps combined should be just fine. That still is good enough amperage for most systems, with a good brand behind it.

As for the 4GB of ram, I mostly agree that it is unnecessary, however if you are playing some of the latest games, having 4GB might come in handy if you have the cash to throw around. At worst, you wouldn't have to upgrade your ram for awhile. :)
