Dual printers...

I'm preparing to get a home PC via custom build shop. I'll be using two printers. Inkjet for color prints, and B&W Laser for B&W prints. Do I need to have two printer ports, or is there another way to have both printers connected at the same time and switch between them?

Well, that all depends on what kind of printers you have. If they both have the old-school parallel ports, then you need to buy an parallel splitter. If they are both USB, then just plug them both in to the computer. Of course, they may also be network-capable too...

Post the make and model of your printers, and we'll be better able to assist you. ;)

As dean said, if they are USB you can leave both plugged in and select which printer to use when you print a file.

Thanks for your reply...

I don't have them yet. For the B&W laser, I'll likely just get whichever one is cheapest and has best resolution. For the color inkjet, this is a major pain to research, as I must check price of machine, price of ink, resolution, and a bunch of other factors...will likely have my PC long before inkjet. Anyway, I'll make USB a requirement, after reading what you said!
