dual SLI gtx 260's vs gtx 280

i was wonding what would be better dual SLI GTX 260's or 1 GTX 280 for playing demanding games like crysis on every thing high settings on my LCD HD tv via dvi to hdmi cable?

I'm not too sure, but I think I'd go with the single GTX280, then if you ever wanted to, you could SLI that.
 
Single GTX280 - one high-end card (in most cases anyways) performs better than lower-end ones in SLI and even if dual-260 setup would beat a single 280 I would think a single 280 performs better for the price - and as Kornowski said, if you really needed more performance, just get another 280 when the prices are much lower.

P.S. Korn... have you ever seen what kinds of suggestions FF3 spellcheck plugin gives for you name? It even had snowstorm...

Heh, No. I've not seen it. I'm using Chrome at the moment, so...
I did pick this name because I knew that people wouldn't be able to spell it all that easy, lol.
 
No, I mean they've released a card with two 4870 GPUs (RV770) on it. It's actually one card that's got 2 GPUs crossfired... but you don't need a crossfire mobo to for it.
