Dual video cards

I have a Radeon all in wonder 9700 series video card. for the most part i thought this was a good card and never had problems. I started playing the matrix online and the graphics are really choppy. I had a few problems with doom 3 too. I have a dell and it has another video slot. I was wondering if theirs a certian type of card i can add that will increase the video performance of my computer without having to spend a few hundred dollars on a brand new card. That or any other suggestions anyone might have. thanks.

Unfortunately no

Well

The simple answer to the above question is that the SLI setup ensures greater performance. However, it does not mean that you have twice as much power. In fact the performance increase is less than that. Take into account the fact that only the newest generation of Nvidia graphics cards can work in the SLI (Double layout). I hope that you understand the point.

whats the point of having dual cards on a mobo like the sli thing.

Having Duel graphics cards...in a nut shell one card will do the calculations for one half of the screen and the other will do the other half. So it cards only have to do half the work. This becomes very beneficial when you are playing games at a high resolution.

SLi advantage is roughly 70% increase in performance if i remeber correctly. Nothing is ever 100% of course, your PSU is probably only 60-75% "efficient" according to the manufacturer.

any suggestions on a second card i could get that would help? Im planing on building a new comp as soon as i get the money but for now im looking for a low budget fix.

Now that iread this again, the mobo in question is not an SLI setup (hence my first response)

Since this isnt a SLI board or even a dual board, no -- not if you want to keep the AIW

so basically if i want to do that i will need more than one monitor.

no...you can run SLi on one monitor, most people do. it just has the CAPABILITY to span across 4 monitors. single videocards can usually only do 2 monitors max.

I don't think he was talking about SLI since I think we determined it was a non-SLI board. In that case there isn't any advantage to multiple video cards other than multiple monitor support.

LMAO yea
