dud motherboard??

so guys, i ordered 2 computers from eyo.com.au (in components)

after alot of ****ing around with one, we realized the HDD was busted, so we used the other one (ordered 2 of everything), and now its dandy.

the other computer, with everything in it except a HDD, doesn't really work..

when we power on:

the CPU fan starts
the Graphics card fan starts
the Keyboard gets power
the Mouse gets power

BUT

there is no output to the monitor
the disk drive doesnt work at all
pressing the powerbutton doesnt turn the computer off

so, its as if everything is getting power, but no data (i think)

does this mean the motherboard is a piece of crap? or is it something else...

the pillars that the motherboard gets screwed into, there were like, 20, only 6 lined up over holes, so we thought that may have been shorting it. (so we removed them)
nothing then changed, so we reset the motherboard. still the same as before.

so, my conclusion is, is that the motherboard is a piece of shit, like one of the HDDs (which worked for like, 2 hours, we installed vista, then it died trying to format it..we didnt want vista)

would yall agree with this??

cheers.

so like.. *bump*

is it the motherboard?

im so dissapointed that the comp didnt work, and were getting intouch we the site to send out new gear. i would hate to get it and find out that it wasnt actually the mobo that was the issue :(

i no joke was holding back tears when it didnt work... it was supposed to be a Christmas present from quite a few people to me (including funded by me), and unless i buy a new mobo (assuming thats what it is) it wont be ready will i would believe jan 7th.

and if i did i would be out of pocket.. (thus me not running out and getting one, i have like no money at all)

some imput would be great even if your just guessing, i know very little about comps, and the 2 people that do i wouldn't trust as far as i could throw them.

You say it does not even post? could be the cpu. My brother had a dead cpu come in and the fans whirred and everything, but no posting or beeps. so I will say its either the CPU or the motherboard.

the mobo does beep.

after like 10-15 sec there is a beep, its quite long, like, 1-2 whole seconds rather than just a bleep.

if it was a dud CPU i thought that it doesnt even turn on.

could it be the ram? thats the only thing i didnt check. would dud ram like, cause these problems?

Q: What do the beeps emitted during the POST mean?
A: The following Award BIOS beep code descriptions may help you identify possible computer problems.
(For reference only.)
1 short: System boots successfully
2 short: CMOS setting error
1 long, 1 short: Memory or motherboard error
1 long, 2 short: Monitor or graphics card error
1 long, 3 short: Keyboard error
1 long, 9 short: BIOS ROM error
Continuous long beeps: Graphics card not inserted properly
Continuous short beeps: Power error

it has 1 long beep.. as if its not in the manual!
could just assuming its 1 long 1 short i guess..

BTW. the board is a gigabyte GA-MA770-DS3P

if anyone knows anything about them
