Dunno how I got these problems....

Well, I have 2 problems, both which I got yesterday (and I have no clue as to how it happened). I'd be great help if anyone could help! ^_^

So, the first problem is that I keep getting these...kinda like the download window thing before I download Macromedia Flash Player, except most of it seems to be from ErrorSafe. I could remove this (I think) with Spybot S&D, but when I restart my computer, the problem appears again. Whenever I close the download thing, some computer message pops up (which appears to be advertising me to download the thing). It doesn't appear very often, but when I'm using Internet Explorer, sometimes I see an internet window appear in my taskbar, and then it quickly disappears (and my screen flashes once at the same instant, like a window just popped up out of no where and closed).

The second problem pretty much occured at a similar time to the first. After using Spybot S&D, and Adaware, when I restarted my computer, I get this message telling me that this "mlmkhg.dll" file is missing or something. I could still use my computer, but no windows appear in the taskbar, and I can't even use my taskbar at all, unless I restart my computer again.

Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

I dunno where that string of weird characters came from though. ^^;;
 
well i from what i can say the sysmbol are chinese i translate it from the computer one from AltaVista and google tranlator

those are what the chinese characters say
 
Well, those are the literal translations, but thanks anyways. ^^ It's probably caused by the fact that I'm using a Chinese computer. I'm suspecting those weird string of characters are originally some special character/symbol not on the keyboard. >>
 
Don't worry about the special characters. The program is doing its job.

How's the computer operating? Any better?

Please post a fresh HJT log with an update on how things are working now.

Thanks for the concern. ^^ Mm....the computer is still pretty much in the same state with that problem still going on.

I already posted an HJT log in the beginning. XD I'm just waiting now for further instructions.

No they haven't, they just ran option #1.

You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a Notepad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site.

Please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
  • Choose your usual account.
Once in Safe Mode, open the SmitfraudFix folder again and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".


The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart anyway into normal Windows. A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply along with a new HijackThis log.
The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Download VundoFix.exe
to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above
instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when
VundoFix appears at reboot.
 
Buzz1927 ... yes, you are quite right that Silver Phoenix hadn't fully run the fix at that point. Sorry ... my bad phraseology.

My concern was that, with the Vundo and other Trojans in the log, as he had been online again (to d/l the tool), I wanted to see of the log had become more infected.

Apologies if I confused the issue. It's not like me. I'm usually very careful with my words.

Anyway ... Silver Phoenix ... I'll leave you in Buzz's hands.

Download the Killbox.

Unzip it to the desktop but do NOT run it yet.

Then reboot into Safe Mode by restarting your computer and pressing F8 as your computer is booting up. Then select the Safe Mode option.

Once in Safe Mode, Run Hijackthis and select "Do a system scan only", place a check by the following entries.

Close all open windows and browsers, and hit "Fix Checked".

Then run the Killbox.

Click "Delete on Reboot".

Paste the following into the top "Full Path of File to Delete" box.

C:\WINDOWS\mlmkhg.dll

Click the red-and-white "Delete File".

Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt.

Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

Do the same for this file.

C:\WINDOWS\yaaaby.dll

Then reboot to normal mode and post a new Hijackthis log.
