Dust Bunnies from Hell!

I just took apart my old 1997 Compaq Presario to clean it out and, HOLY DUST BUNNIES!!! It was filthy I think that was the first actuall cleaning job I ever gave it. There were gobs of dust bult up on some of the caps on the MB and in the fan (which BTW looks ancient but still works) I have been thinking of maybe wiping the harddrive and reinstalling Windows 98 onto it but not sure where to begin. It of course would still be pritty useless but at least it may be a faster version of useless. It has two USB drives in it so it can still be used with transfering data but the old 3.5in floppy drive is obsolete of course.

let me know if you would for some reason want pictures of this "wonder of the ancient world" :P

BTW it still runs almost perfectly except a little slow (Takes 6 minutes to boot up)

I would like to see a picture of a 12 year old computer that was cleaned for the first time:D

A friend of mine brought me a computer that he said "didn't work" at all. When I opened it...the dust was so thick the fans would not even spin anymore:eek: The entire case looked gray when opened....the dust was like 1cm thick. It took me hours to clean it:mad:

They have these things to fix problems like that, they're called trash cans, lol. But many koodo's for keeping the ancient equipment around and running. Things like that will be amazing to be able to mess with and compare to technology, say, 15 years from now.

Those are ol' internat pictures ;)

That's a 97'? I have one much older than that - it still looks pretty new, USB, newer style PS/2 keyboard/mouse ports...

I think I saw a whole cat in that second one!

That Presario...I've been keeping one of those alive for an older
lady for about 5 years.

It actually works good for how old it is, just for web stuff.

I remember we had old computers in a warehouse that I was hired to find out if they were worth saving and if they were, put Win2k on them. Some of those comps were the ones with 64kilobytes of RAM and stuff. They gave me a nice air-compressor and I blasted the dust out at 120psi. It was like fog...

Hope you didn't blow it out on that table with that glass of milk sitting there, Yuck. Would taste pretty awful.

I hope you had a mask....lol.

I have cleaned out several PC's just like that (but newer:eek:)

Most of the time, the users are smokers and smoke inside:mad:

The worst pic ive seen is when someone found a snake in there computer ill try find the pic later

Subject: Computer Tech Support

Tech support: "Hello. Computer tech support. How can we help you?"

Customer: "Hello. My computer was making a strange hissing noise last night and this morning when I turned it on there was a crackling noise and then some smoke and then nothing. If I bring it in can you repair it?"

Tech Support: "Sure, bring it in and we'll take a look at it."

Take a look at the pictures.....
