DVD backup problems!

For the past 3 weeks, backing up my DVDs has been REALLY, REALLY SLOW. I'm using DVD Shrink 3.2 to Anylise and Encode and then DVD Decrypter to burn the image file onto a disk. I would like to know why for the last couple of weeks the DVD Encoding procedure on DVD Shrink is EXTREMELY SLOW and can sometimes take up to an hour and 30 mins. Before this started to happen, it usually took up to about 20 mins MAX!

Help!!!

Below is a screenshot of what the Encoding process looks like in DVD Shrink:

The bit that is in the red square is obviously the 'Rate', on the above screenshot the rate is about 1,516Kb/s, but before this started happening the rate got up to about 7,500+Kb/s. I deleted the stuff that i don't need from the HDD, I did a virus-scan, spyware scan and then I ran ScanDisk as well as Defragmenter but the speed has not improved! What should I do about this???
Any Ideas???

Go into your device manager, and check the status of the IDE controller (it should be under IDE/ATAPI controllers). Check that the transfer mode of the device is set to DMA (probably Ultra DMA 4 - 66). If it's set to PIO, this will definitely cause this problem.

Also, try it with discs that you know worked fast before .. could just be copy protection :)
