DVD burner not detected

system restore wont do a thing when you change the internal software on a piece of hardware.
are you sure you followed all of the instructions for the flashing procedure? i know that many manufacturers specift that the drive must be in the master position before flashing.
also, have a look in the bios to see if its detected there.
if you still dont have any luck try the flashing procedure again

Try it anyway...I downloaded the wrong audio driver update before and as a result it would not recognise my audio card and I just rolled it back one day and everything was good to go :D

At this point in time ya got nothing to loose by trying.

the firmware has nothing to do with drivers... by flashing the firmware you are actually changing the hardware

Scratch that I see you upgraded the firmware and not a driver...yeah try it again like hairy said with the jumper on master.

Yeah I realize that now that I took a closer look at the problem.

well, i would consider reflashing it, if that doesn't work set it to master (if it isnt already and try again... if that doesn't sort it out i cant think what else there is to do

i dont know the specifics of the program you're using to flash your drive... the last one i used assumed the drive was on the secondary master so it didn't bother with the detection process.... you might want to ensure that no other drives are on the same IDE channel as well

Yeah, it's on the same channel as a recently added DVD reader... The software was found on Liteon's website, but it can't detect the drive and says it can't flash it since it can't detect it.

it depends on the software being used... some software is dumb and will just flash the first drive it gets to.
considering you cant solve the problem i would get into contact with customer support and tell them your problem
