DVD burner

i recently bought a dvd burner and want to know if i can take a file i got of my computer and put it on a dvd disk and play it on an ACTUALL dvd player?
any tips for doing this

there is software for doing this. You can even create storyboards and menues with the right ones

You've got to make your video into the correct format. I use MainConcept's MPEG Encoder to convert various formats (avi etc) to DVD-compatible mpegs. Then I use Adobe Encore to create the actual DVD.

There are probably a million different apps nowadays, but I've always used those

Thier are a number of dvd burning programs out there. I love to do it it is one of my favorite hobbies. I just don't know if I am allowed to name certain programs on here. Try going to this site www.afterdawn.com go down to the forum that best suits your question. :2)
