DVD Burner

for years, since i got my 52x plextor premium, i've been a plextor guy

their drives always had the best features, incredibly accuracy, awesome speed, all at the complete expense of quietness, they just SCREAMED like a jumbo jet. AWESOME!

but i just recently got burned (no pun intended) by a plextor 16x dvd-r (in fact 3 of them, that all died) and now i've been using a lite-on 16x dvd-r drive that i got from walmart for $49.99, and doesn't have as many cool features like my old plextors did, but the thing is deadly fast, and has yet to produce a coaster.

And next to the plextor, this thing is SILENT. it's as sure footed, well made, and consistant as they come, regardless of price.

It will do cd-r, dvd+/r/rw, and dual layer discs at up to 6x, i believe.

no dvd-ram support, but i don't know anyone who uses it anyways.

maybe dvd drives just aren't made like they used to be :(

my old school plextor premium 52x still works like the day i got it.

i think i paid $200 for it, tho, and now even 16x dvd drives are only 30-50, so maybe manufacturers are cheapening their materials

That wouldn't suprise me, but dad does have an older LiteOn DVD-RW that's given him problems. Then I had a LiteOn DVD-ROM that never worked worth crap. But what really got me was my DVD-Recorder(like a VCR) It quit finalizing DVDs about a month after getting it... I've got a Panasonic DVD-Recorder now. I wonder what brand burner it has in it :P
