hey guys, just want to know what do i need to burn avi files into dvd ( where i can play them on dvd players )

thanks

go to afterdawn.com they have a whole bunch of guides for burning movies to file conversion ( which is what you need ). One note , the site is in Finland and finish laws have just changed. So in Finland it is against the law to talk about or do any kind of decrypting or " ripping" especially movies, so all those once excellent guides they had are gone for ever, the upside is the programs are still around. You should not be affected unless you want to know something that will infringe on copyrighted material.

If you want to convert to VCD, TMPGEnc is good (and free). I'm not sure about any good, free programs for converting to DVD, but my favourite paid one is VSO DivX to DVD. I think there's a free trial available. I think Nero also comes with some software to do this, depending on which version you have (if you have Nero, that is). It's not the best, but it should work.

well im loo0king to burn avi into dvd.. ill check afterdawn.com =] ive been there before i guess.. hehe

and plus if i convert avi to mpeg wouldnt iit be bigger? and the quality decreased?

have you tried something like nero, the latest one... or windows movie maker?

i have always burned multiple file formats with those two programs into dvd watchable media and have never had any problems changing the file format to a different one.

or windvd movie maker? if it came with your pc.

i duno i use nero 7 ultra edition. it works fine for me, got a copy for free in a deal though. get it if you dont have it.
only thing ive found wrong is that it wont convert mkv videos to dvd... which is fine because i dont need to put those on dvd anyways.

Yeah when you open nero smart start you can see the optio under the video tab, it's make your own dvd. you can import video files, or capture your own video.
