DVD/CD Drives

My DVD/CD Drives on my computer are not working they are not reading any of the CD/DVD that I insert into the drives. what should I do?
 
A bit more information, if you could. Is this a problem that's appeared out of nowhere? Have you been altering your hardware configuration at all? If it appeared after you did something, what did you do?

Also, what can you see if you go to Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Computer Management / Disk Management tab? Does the window display the inserted disks?
 
Yes this problem appeared out of nowehre. No I have not been altering with my hardware configuration. And no I do not see the disk I inserted in my DVD Drive when I checked in the Disk Management tab.
 
Give specific information about the drive and cd/dvd you plan on using. All the info you can get, the better we can help.
 
First thing to do is see if you can boot of the drive with a boot disk.

If that works, try uninstalling, reinstalling, then updated the device driver in Windows

If that doesn't work replace the drive.
