DVD/CDRW Drive Has Slowed Down PC

Hi Guys!

I hope someone can help me with this problem.

Ive just installed a DVDROM/CDRW into my mums computer.

Used separate IDE cable and input on motherboard so it isnt connected to with the HDD and set jumper to "SLAVE" and BIOS setting to HDD then ROM.

Since ive made the install the computer is slow to start and process.
What can i do about this?
