DVD doesn't fit my Laptop?

I never use my laptop to play DVDs, but just got a medical DVD and wanted to make a copy of the file. The hole in the DVD is too small to fit and I thought DVDs were the same size as CDs. So what's the deal? I have an HP ENVY Laptop.

Doesn't make sense.
I know right? I fits right in my desk top but the lap top is different. The DVD looks like the center can break off to fit, but I don't think it is supposed to work that way. I thought maybe something broke off another DVD, but the ring on the player doesn't come off.

I meant post a pic of this medical dvd compared to a regular cd/dvd.
Oh I had to give it to the doctor, but I wanted to make a copy before giving it to him. After seeing a regular DVD wouldn't fit either I didn't feel it would make a difference. I don't use CDs anymore and prefer to use flash drives so I don't know if CDs would be any different.

Did you push down? The discs snap in on laptops and external drives.
OMG, do I feel stupid right now.:rolleyes::)
I have never used this DVD player and never knew that. LOL I'm just so used to placing them in my desktop and push in the door. Anyway Thanks for your help, that was the problem, Don't laugh too hard, LOL
