DVD door Stuck

The DVD/CD tray won't open. I push the 'eject' button, and the little light comes on... and I hear it "grunt" (like it's trying to open, but it's stuck). The light then goes out and nothing happens. There isn't anything in there...I don't think... I've tried to pry the door open... but it won't budge.

Have you tried repeatly pressing the open button?

The computer I am using now does the same thing you just press the button like 20 times and at one point it opens.

Kent.

You can't just pry the door open, the drive basically locks. There should be an emergency eject hole somewhere on the front. Take a paper clip and stick it in there.

Like The Other One said, there should be a little hole on the front, use a paper clip. Alot of times a little belt breaks that pulls the door open and closed. I,ve fixed them with a little rubberband, you cant find the replacement band anywhere.

I have the same problem with one of my dvd-rom. When it opens it works fine, but the problem is to get it to open. any idea what may be the cause

Ok... I tried the gym clip in the tiny hole under the drive door. The light comes on and then....the clip gives and goes in farther!...what's that about?? I even tried pushing the button about 20 times....uh huh...nothing seems to work. But, I do appreciate the replies. How do I replace the little belt that opens the tray?

Turn the computer off and try it. Maybe it's trying to do something with the door moving whatever part you should push away. And realize you have to push in pretty far with some drives...
