hi, i have connected up 2 dvd drives 1. is an 8162b GDR H-L drive and 2. is an atapi Lite on dvd drive.
they are both showing up in device manager but the drives are not working, they have a little ! next to them - does anyone knows what tghis means? also i have downloaded a driver for the 8162b but it cant find the drive!!!!!
any help would be greatly appreciated,
thanks all
:)

Do you have them on the same IDE cable? If so one needs to be set as Master and one Slave by the jumpers on the back.

Go to the IDE channel that there on in the Device Manager, right click on it and hit uninstall. Reboot the computer and let windows reinstall it. See if the drives work then.

Try unplugging one drive at a time IDE/Power connector. See if either drive shows up and works by itself.

the little yellow ! usually means a driver missing, but with most cd/dvd drives windows installs the basic drivers to get them working...

my guess is that they are conflicting-not everything works well together

you prob be better off putting one in ide slot 1 as master and the other as slave on 2nd ide cable.

if this does not work just try 1 drive by itself as master, if that works unplug it and try second drive as master by itself

if both drives work by themselves and not together than they are conflicting

do you know any sites i can download drivers from everyone i goto just seems to try to make me download driver detective or something!!!!!
\really buggin me!

ok i found a driver installer but it cant find the drive!!!!!!
this is really bugging me please please please help!!!

does it work with just 1 drive connected?
is the problems just happening when both drives are connected?
does the problem still happen with drives on different ide cables?

download uniblue driver scanner and it'll download the drivers. the ! means there is a device conflict or hard ware detected but driver not found. Search for the driver on the net. Update your storage matrix drivers that control the computer bus.
