Hello people,
The problem is when i enter Computer i see how much space is free on the E drive;but when i open the drive folder theres no files to be seen.i have tried to read the data from 3 different company-manufactered dvds;and its the same problem.
Now,i have searched the forums and tried upperfilters,lowerfilters fix,ran a memory diagnostic test,which showed no problems,and tried vista/xp dvd fix
of course i rebooted,so that is not the problem
any ideas??
edit- the system, is vista v.6.0

If the cdrom drive appears in "my computer" then deleting the upper and lower filters will do nothing. If you put a known good cd in the drive and it don't work then then drive is most likely dead.

Thanks for the reply;
I dont think the drive is dead,it plays movie dvds,and audio cds,its only the data from other computer saved on a dvd,it might be important that other computer saves files in sectors of the disc like like I-H or C-F or something similar,but i dont know why it does that,or what exactly they are.

Then it could be the brand of media that was used and the cdrom drive you are using. Some brands/players don't like certain brands of media. Look to see if there is a firmware update online for the cd/dvd rom drive.

What type of media is the data on? cd or dvd and + or - r or rw? What is the model number of cd/dvd drive in the laptop?
