DVD drive won't play DVDs

Dear forum friends,

I have an Optiarc AD-7200s drive which works nicely in every respect, except when I try to play DVD video. It then goes blue screen on me, and with approximately this error message

Exception at:
Oxoooooo8E(OxC000000S, OxBF0777A5, OxB7800B2C, Ox00000000)

Then something about:
nv4_disp.dll- Address BF0777A5, base @BF012000, datestamp 4862abf3

I thought it would be firmware, and I've tried to flash the drive, but when I do, it tells me target drive is not found correctly

any ideas?

John: the problem remains but the error has changed. I got rid of dell cine player which seemed to be interfering with everything, and downloaded Intervideo Xpack. This closes unexpectedly everytime I try to play a commercial DVD (but not a home-made one)

Is this a copyright problem?

Many thanks

Max

Do you know what video card you are using and what driver did you try downloading and installing? Try downloading VLC media player and see if it that helps. I used to watch dvd's with Windows Media Player but its possible you might need a codec package to view them. Try WMP and see if that works as well.
