I am going to be taking Video Clips off of DVDs I own and puting them onto my Hard Drive.

I am going to be useing the AVi codec H262 I think it's called.

Now if I want my output File to be the same as the VOB file from the DVD with the same Quality.

I know I can use Lower Video Bitrates if I use H262 codec.

Now I know DVDs are around 9860 kbps or something like this.
Then if I use H262 and want the same Quality I don't have to use as High a Video Bit Rate.

I can use 22000 kbps can I use Lower or what would be best?????????????????

I here if the video does not have a lot of FX or movment you can use 8000 kbps but if there is a lot of movment and FX use 22000 kbps??

I wanted to know what I sould do??
 
The H.264 codec is more efficient than MPEG2 at lower bit rates while resulting in less visible artifacting; thus you can achieve an apparent similar quality using H.264 at lower bit rates. 22000kbps is much higher than the standard Mpeg-2 bit rate. The Mpeg-2 bitstream on DVDs usually maxes out around 9Mbit (9000kbps) as older DVD players have issues playing higher rate streams.

You would most likely not notice a difference in quality encoding SD (NTSC/PAL) material at 4000kbps with H.264 vs the native Mpeg-2 file. The quality you perceive is subjective, however, and depends upon other settings in the H.264 encoding process.

I am useing the program Format Factory and it works good and is the only program like this that I could get to work on my computer.

Wen you put a DVD in the program tells you what it is the bit rate I meen.

And it says the DVD is 9860 kbps or around there.

Does this sound right it is NTSC I am in the USA???????

I own the DVD and I was taking clips just for me to put on the computer for myself not to sell.
I did not know you could not even ask or do that
