dvd movie, no sound

i tried a cd audio and there is sound and i tried a dvd with the same player and it doesnt have sound.

Is the audio on the DVD DTS, some software can't decode this

i'll have to check on that, this happens with two recent dvds.

It's a stupid question, but you don't have your DVD playing software muted or anything do you?

what dvd decoder are you using? You may want to update it. I use PowerDVD i dont think it really matters but they may have a fix if it can't decode your new dvds

i'm playing it with media player classic with the latest k-lite codec + real alternatives.

is k-lite codec a DVD decoder? you need a program to do the DVD decoding not a codec to my knowledge although I may be wrong

No I think as long as you have the MPEG-2 codec installed the program is insignificant, but installing WinDVD/PowerDVD provides the codec, but after then it should be playable on WMP etc...

it has videos and everything just no sound. i tried playing another vob file and it has sound.

hmm wierd, before i had sound with those and i didnt install windvd or powerdvd and now when i dont have sound i install those two and i have sound again. must be those codec packs overwritten some files.
