DVD Player Files

I don't have a DVD Burner, but when I want to burn a disk to play in the DVD Player, I burn to a CD and play it in the DVD Player. I've don't it before, I just forgot the file type I used. So my question is, what file types will a DVD Player recognize (MPEG2, AVI, etc.)?

varies by DVD player, best thing to do is google your make and model and see what the specs play.

Some will only play DVD's others like my yamada will play just about anything you throw at it

you can burn a "mini" dvd, i've done it with Nero. It's basically a DVD, using a normal CD, with like 20 minutes of capacity.

Well, according to this, my DVD player doesn't play Video Cd's... But I know for a fact that I have burnt a video file to a CD and played it in that DVD Player (I just forget how), what could I have done?

Which file would most likely work in the DVD Player on a CD:
MPG1, MPG2, DVD, VCD, SVCD, or Divx?

Could you possibly just burned the video files onto the DVD as data and your media player just automatically played them? of course i mean the dvd from your pc.. not regular pc..
