DVD Player formats it can play?

I would like to some of my .avi
files on my home tv using my
wallyworld dvd player.
What formats does a inexpensive
dvd player play?

usually only dvd format, unless the box/manual tell something different.

.avi is a pretty common extention,..so if it can play more than only dvd, my gues would be its able to play .avi's too
 
You are most likely going to have to "author" the AVI file(s) to a DVD compliant structure.

If you have XP you can use Window movie maker for this. (I believe)
