DVD-R Size question

Is there any dvd media that is larger than the 4.7GB discs that can be burned on a regular DVD+/-RW? I have a Macbook Superdrive and wanted to back up a collection of DVD's I just bought (quite expensive so I dont want to f them up). Problem is, they're all 7 gigs a piece. I know I can easily burn them with a dual layer disc but i dont have a dual layer burner.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

if they're data, you'll either need to back them up to multiple disks, or back them up to an image on your hard drive (you can mount the image to a virtual drive)

if they're video you can transcode them to a lower bitrate video, sacrificing quality, remove parts of the movie to make it fit, or copy it to multiple disks (some programs don't support this)
