dvd rom driver problems

to all,
i have come to this board to see if anyone knows how to fix this problem?
i have two dvd -rom drives, a liteon and other. today i lost the use of these, so have tried to re install the to no avail and also to download the drivers and install these but also to no avail.when i got said drivers they werent istallable files, just normal files to place in the drivers folder i am wondering if anyone has a solution to this problem. if so please reply

well, ur words are mumbly jumby.. so its hard to kinda get the point..

but im interpretting it as you downloaded the file, they said to put it in the drive folder, you did.. and it didn't work..

so, it should be an executable file, or the driver, so go into device manager(right click on "my computers">Hardware)
click on your dvd drive
"update the driver"
when it searches, point it towards that file

see if it comes up and if it'll install that way..

and oh, why do you have two? unless one is regular and the other one have burning capabilities..

if it doesn't work, you can try unplugging the cables and plugging them back
