dvd rom problem

hey for some reason my dvd rom is being seen as a cd rom and wont let me burn/read dvds.

anyone know how to fix it?
 
reinstall drivers for it from the cd that came with it or go to the manufactures website and download the newest drivers for it
 
just happened? if so, try undo-ing some of the stuff that you did. like installed apps, etc.. or happened a while back?

i think there was a topic on this previously, but im not sure if a definite answer was given.

but yes, try updating the drivers, see if there is any problems.
try taking it out and putting it back in. maybe cleaning? dust accumulates.
