I'am new to this forum and i will be very much grateful for any help, so here is my, problem. My dvd burner reads all blank media as a cd-r,also I've tried to uninstalling the ata controllers witch i've seen on another topic. when I go to properties on the burner it shows that it full of memories and no disk space, also my dvd rom shows the same thing, i even did a system restore but that didn't help. Any respones will be appreciated. I forgot but it is a HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GSA-H21N running on windows XP.

The best I can tell you is that when I goes to how much disk space it shows this
Used space 0 bytes 0 bytes

Free space 0 bytes 0bytes

I wish i could take a snapshot of it for you to see what I'am talking about but it shows the same thing with a disk in but reads the dvd media as cd-r.

What software do you use to burn. I have honestly never used Windows built in burning software because it's rubbish. Try getting something like Deep Burner Free and see if you can burn a DVD. Chances are everything's working fine, but it's just not showing up correctly. I don't have a machine with XP handy right off, but I'm pretty sure XP had a problem with this, not always knowing what kind of disk was in the drive and such.
