hi i have a sata dvd rw in my computer i got a sata dvd rom today when i put it in my computer when i go to my computer and click on it the computer frezzes i have windows xp quad core 2 mb of ram geforce 9800gx2 500 gb hardrive

Is there a disc in it?? It's trying to read it... make sure that is all connected properly and if possible try a different SATA port.

Look in your Device Manager under the Sata controller that the drive is running on and see what Mode its running in.
