DVD - Slow Motion

Hi everyone,

I hope someone on here can help me with this cause I don't have a clue what is happening.

I have a toshiba M400, 100GB HDD, 2GB RAM, 1.83Ghz CPU with a fresh copy of windows vista home(32bit) service pack 2.

I just bought a dvd rewriter from ebay to replace my cd rewriter, it was playing in slow motion with white lines down the screen so the seller sent me out a second one, I installed that one but it was still playing in slow motion.

I have tried burning a couple of dvd's but it takes at least 3 hours to burn a full 4.38GB DVD.

The CD player works fine if I put that one back in.

Can anyone help me please.

Sorry it took me so long to respond, I've been away from an intrernet connection for a few days.

The make and model are: HP. GSA-U10N (M75C)


I did realise yesterday that when I turn on the laptop with the dvd player in it there is an error that shows up on the black screen before the windows logo comes up, it says "select bay error", it doesn't come up when the plyer isn't plugged in.
