Hey guys.
Looking in a DVD, I find 2 folders, VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS.

This DVD contains 4 episodes of The OC season 1 WHICH I OWN, and this is a PERSONAL BACKUP.

Anyways, VIDEO_TS contains IFO, BUP and VOB files. What are their functions? I have 2 DVD ripping softs, one which directly rips to a DivX file, the other just seems to transfer the VIDEO_TS folder to somewhere on the HDD.

The DVD contains 4 episodes, and their are 4 equally sized VOB files... Are those the video files??

Thanks.

VOB files contain the video, audio, subtitles and menu. IFO files stores information about chapters, subtitles, and audio. BUP files are basically a backup of the IFO files in case the IFO files fail.

So yes, the VOB is the video file :)

OK, and how do I extract a usable (WMV, AVI etc.) video file via the VOB files?

And if VOB also contains audio, what's in AUDIO_TS??
