Ok, I have a big problem. When ever i try to watch a dvd on my computer it will open up the dvd watching program and will then jsut sit. Drive not doing anything, nothing happening, then after about 10 seconds my computer will freeze and i have to hit the reset button. It isn't the programs fault as it does this with WMP, VLC and Powerdvd. I have no idea what has happened :S Could it be a broken codec or something?

Thanks for any help you can give :)

I had this very same problem trying to read DVDs in PowerDVD, RealPlayer, and WMP 10. I have two optical drives, and I was trying to use my DVD-ROM drive; switching to my CD/DVD burner solved the problem. Apparently my burner can read DVD discs better than the DVD-ROM drive can. I'm wondering if your DL burner is up to the task of reading as well as it writes. I would also suggest the latest chipset and videocard drivers as well as any updates for PowerDVD, if you haven't done so already.

Thanks for that, however my computer has never had an issue with playing dvds before now. I did just install powerdvd and i'm wondering if it installed something that screwed up something else preventing me from watching dvds. I have also recently installed dvd decrypter and AutoGK. Could they have broken something? Thanks again for any help :)

Sorry for the late reply, Seth.
Did you look on the CyberPower site for updates to PowerDVD? They're vital. And my DVD playback problem popped up suddenly, too. How new is the unit? If it's older, the laser could by dying. DVD Decrypter has no effect on this. I haven't looked up AutoGK yet, but nothing should be "broken" by installing software that's not running when you're watching a DVD.
