**DVD's will not burn**

I have got a toshiba equium and had it for just under a year and it use to burn dvds perfectly i havent burnt a dvd for a while and the other day i went to do it with roxio and it encoded the avi file and got to da burnin stage and didnt work so i tried using nero and it did the same thing again it encoded the avi file then went to burn and the error log message came up, here is what it said:

It's difficult to interpret a log like this. I see a "focus or tracking error" which could mean the drive is useless. You could try burning at a slower speed to see if it's any better.

You could also try a different brand of disk (long shot). Before burning a calibration burn is made on the inside of the disk. If the setting is out of range the burn will be aborted.

Also, you could run some of the cd/dvd speed tests on the drive. Unfortunately the Help is for an older version.
