Dvi ports!!!!

Fair enough, can you get a dvi-i to dvi-d adapter. Because my monitor has a dvi-i connection and my brothers gpu has a dvi-d port.
 
you shouldnt need an adapter...

DVI-I can carry both analog and digital signals

DVI-D can carry only digital signals

DVI-A (funnily enough) only carries analog signals...

It's unusual to find only a DVI-D on a GPU though, it should always be DVI-I (unless its a cheap card)

But thats beside the point, if you buy a DVI-I cable, you wouldnt need an adapter

not really, no, quality is increased and in some scenarios with TV's and stuff a higher resolution can be achieved than using VGA, but if you're debating whether to upgrade from VGA to DVI-A, there really is no point

(not that a whole lot of devices come with JUST DVI-A anymore, its a bit of an older interfece)

I have DVI-D on my vid card and DVI-D on my monitor, this is identified by the bar or cross that is on the ports right side. Mine just has one horizontal bar. Will I notice an improvement with a DVI-D wire?

what cable do you have already...? VGA...? If so, yes, you should, in theory, but of courtse it depends what res you're running at right now, and ofcourse the quality of the VGA cable, if it is an uber great one and then the DVI cable is an ubercrud one, then no, probably not...

You wouldn't be confined to just a DVI-D cable though, you could use a DVI-I cable, which are much more readily available

Anyhoo, you should really stop thread hijacking, it's not nice
