I have a Polaroid 19" 1911-TLXB LCD TV and I am trying to hook up my older desktop (Dell Optiplex GX110 running win XP pro sp3). The graphics card is a nvidia GeForce4 MX 4000 PCI (not express). The card has 1 VGA 1 DVI and 1 S-Video. I wanted to use the DVI to go to the TV (which will be the main monitor) and the s-video for a cheap projector i don't use very often. my TV only has one VGA that i wanted to save for my new laptops.
I bought a DVI to HDMI cable (the cable says high-speed hdmi on it). It takes it a minute to recognize it when i plug it in, but once it does it correctly identifies it as Polaroid 1911-tlxb, but the t.v. never shows anything. I have tried many different configurations and the computer thinks its outputting to the TV but the TV never shows anything.
I have tried all resolutions and turning the colors down to 8 and 16 bit but nothing even flickers on the hdmi. The VGA is also plugged into the TV which i haven't had any problems with.
any suggestions would be appreciated.
