DVI to HDMI?

Hey,

I was wondering if using a DVI to HDMI cable from my graphics card to my 1080p tv would give me full HD with sound? I have a BenQ 24 monitor, & it works great, but I don't know whether it does sound cause the speakers are hooked up to the mobo onboard sound.

Cheers

no otherwise i would have sound in my monitor speakers :)

No, it doesn't work that way. You would still need an audio cable from your sound card to the tv.

dvi won't pass audio but hdmi does. like stated above, you would need an audio cable as well. quality of the video feed will not be lost, however.

Does that mean when I install a graphics card with HDMI it will have sound automatically or do I have to connect it some how?

If your video card has an hdmi output its just a matter of hooking up an hdmi cable between video card and hdtv.
