DX10 Question...

I did a few DX10 searches... couldn't find exact answer.

ALL DX10 cards can play DX9 games AND vice versa right?

All DX9 cards can play DX10 game? I was under the impression DX9 cards can't play DX10 games.

Anyone have ANY Idea how much AWESOME DX10 cards will be? I want to play games like Crysis.

I'm also assuming that any games released now will be much easier on DX10 capable cards? Like a DX10 card playing games like Oblivion, Fear, etc... walk in a park?

the DX10 wont necessarily improve performance in the leap and bounds you are talking about but it will make more performance abilities applicable

DX10 and Vista will be implementing something similar to which the XBox has. It will allow the hardware to talk directly with the other hardware, without having to go through the OS and drivers.

Thats part of the reason why the Xbox can run games so well at high quality, on very low-end hardware.

I meant it like... since the cards will be DX10 Compatible while being brand new cards in general... they should be able to beat the current cards to date that are awesome. I just want a card that will be able to play everything on max settings. My Computer will be able handle it... just need the Graphics Card to make things happen. Just that's i'm asking for basically... cuz I know Crysis will be stupid hard on the computer. I want to make sure the computer I built will be up for the task.

You should be able to play DX10 games fine. Many people have DX8 cards (most of the ATI 9xxx series), and they play new games just fine.

From the specs... how much better do these DX10 cards seem then the current cards out?

It's hard to say, since we havent seen DX10 benchmarks yet. But i've heard that DX10 cards show 4x the performance in various spots in games.

Did they change that rescently or something?

Cos I remember a while back when it wasn't going to be possible to use DX10 on a DX9 card..

Unless its just u cant use DX10 in XP ?

You can run DX10 on a DX9 card, but it will just be at a software level, not a hardware level.

I was wondering, what time frame are they thinking of releasing these cards. Sometime next year? maybe before Christmas? I would like to wait in purchasing a GPU until they come out, although I don't want to wait for forever.

Umm, Is it just me, or does that not make sence. If DX10 is all about hardware talking to hardware, and how it doesnt go through an OS or drivers...Why will it only work with Vista?

It's hard to explain, because it does go throught the OS, but it tries to communicate hardware to hardware if possible. And DX9 and XP dont allow that.

hey

i see this video card on tigerdirect and it says the card is windows vista ready if its windows vista ready does that mean it supports directx10 eventhough it was a 7 series video card

No, "Vista Ready" on video cards just mean that it has DX9.
