E: Drive Problem

Hey all,
I need some SERIOUS help!
Just recently, like this past week my E: Drive has been acting up. When I want to burn a CD and put a blank CD in, it tells me the following;

Please Insert a Disk into DVD RW Drive (E:)

Any ideas?

It could be your cd drive died on you, or there is some conflict with the drivers.

Try holding the windows and pause break key and when the window pops up click on hardware. then click on device manager. If you see any yellow or red icons next to your cd devices, double click on the cd devices and right click on property's. Read any messages that show up. If it says it is not working properly, then uninstall the device by right clicking on the device and clicking uninstall. Reboot and see if it reinstalls the drivers. If it does then you should be ok. If not then that drive is probably dead and you need to install a new one. They are very cheap and easy to install, so don't get worried about it.

If it is dead come back here and we can walk you through how to install a new one.

Another thing, it could be the software you are using to burn your cd/dvd's. You might try reinstalling the software. Can you play cd's from that drive? Are you only getting that message when you try to burn?

If you are trying to use windows burning software, I don't think it will work with DVD's so you might have to install some aftermarket software to burn DVD's

Well,
It's not dead. I put a burned music CD in there, and it played so. I also put a program CD in there, and it started up.
It just does it when I put a blank CD-R CD in there, and open the E: folder.
Hmmm...
I don't even open the program I use to burn it.
Let me try something, then I will get back to you..

Or when I open Windows Gallery, and want to Burn a CD, it tells me I don't have a drive capable of burning CD's or DVD's.
I have Vista..
