Here are screen shots of current processor, and mother board with CPU-Z… Question is what can I upgrade too? Can I get a core 2 duo? If not, what would be my next best choice?

EDIT: I was thinking LGA775...not 478

Best choice? Build a new computer.

Or get a Pentium 4

I think I have done enough reading to know that the p4 upgrade gets hot. What is a good recommendation to keep it cool enough to run smooth under heavy use?

Yes haha I use my computer hard!!

keep in mnd im really just a newbie here....

thanks

Well not all P4s, only the ones on socket 478 with a Presscott core. If you are not OCing, then the stock cooling should be OK. After you get it, just see what the temps are, and then at that point, consider a different cooler if necessary.

Okay appreciate your assistance one last question,

No, you definitely don't, they are just the most common.

Look in your motherboard manual and see if it says anything about supported processors

Oh wait...you have an emachines, no mobo manual. Well look in your emachines manual and see if it says anything. If not, then any s478 P4 should work.
