e mail help

If I use thunderbird to get my e mail wen it gets it is it going to leave copies of them on the server?

Or do I have to do something to get it to leave copies on my Verizon server?

Once the account has been set up, view the account settings (View Settings for this Account), every dialog. There are many settings that you can customize.

thanks but

I am sorry I ment to ask
Can I have thunderbird keep copies of my mail on the server?

If I can't then I wont even bather installing it?

I sould have asked it like this.

Yes. "View Settings for this Account" will answer all your questions other than the Meaning of Life and who will win the Superbowl. The item mentioned is in "Server Settings".

Edit: Outgoing messages sent from Thunderbird do not go via webmail so the only copy will be that on the PC. If you want to keep outgoing copies in webmail, you will have to use the webmail plugin you referred to.

Thanks just one more thing?

I have win 7. and I know they say you can use windows Live mail

But am I right that you need a Hotmail or MsN mail you can't just use windows Live with your say Verison e mail account?
You need a windows iD

I can't answer your specific question about Windows Live! although I believe you can have any number of accounts in it. You seem to be trying to make layer upon layer of apps to access email. Windows Live! on top of your Verizon webmail on top of Thunderbird POP3. What is the purpose?

If you use an email client, as far as I'm aware the purpose is to have the mail on your PC not somewhere else. Webmail is handy for access anywhere with a browser and the email is on a server somewhere, not directly in your control.
